QUESTION:
I want to find a platform or application that will send me notifications of the hottest stocks that are worth buying. I’m even willing to pay for this information since I do not have the time to search for such shares. What kind of places can I look to find this information?
First, distinguish whether this is play money or if it’s an investment for your future. If play money, forget about seeking out the best platform, newsletter, or “market guru”. Markets are efficient, which means that all news, information, and expectations are priced in. The only information not priced in is tomorrow’s news, and to forecast that you need a crystal ball. This means that you are just as likely to pick the next winning stock as any of those sources, as is a monkey picking stocks by throwing a dart at a board. So paying for this “information” is throwing money away. For some fun, do the very opposite of what Jim Cramer (or any other “guru” you may follow) recommends. You’ll likely do better.
Now, if this is an investment, to help your odds of success in the long term, avoid those fees and gimmicks that squander your returns. Embrace the markets, invest for the long-term using low management fee index funds, and ignore market headlines. You’ll be much more relaxed and rational about investing. Good luck.
